I am writing to draw your urgent attention to the case of Arman Kiyani, who is currently at risk of execution in Iran.
This case is unfolding amid a sharp escalation in executions during ongoing unrest and conflict, often carried out under conditions of internet restrictions and communication blackouts. These measures significantly reduce transparency and limit international oversight at the most critical moments.
Arman Kiani Vafa, 24, a resident of Shahinshahr, Isfahan and originally from Izeh, Khuzestan, was arrested at home on 5 Bahman 1404 and transferred to Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan. There are reports of a death sentence being issued by human rights sources, which have been denied by Isfahan judicial authorities. The case is under investigation.
In January 2026, the European Parliament took a strong position against repression in Iran, signaling that such violations will not go unanswered. At a time when visibility is being deliberately reduced, continued and visible engagement is essential.
I respectfully urge you to consider:
– Publicly sponsoring Arman Kiyani within a political or detainee advocacy initiative
– Raising this case in plenary, committee discussions, or with the EEAS
– Supporting efforts to maintain visibility, including hearings with human rights defenders or affected families
– Calling for an immediate halt to the execution and for full due process guarantees
