BodyDear Honourable Hana Jalloul Muro,
I am writing to draw your urgent attention to the case of Mohammad Hossein Mohammadi, who is currently at risk of execution in Iran.
This case is unfolding amid a sharp escalation in executions during ongoing unrest and conflict, often carried out under conditions of internet restrictions and communication blackouts. These measures significantly reduce transparency and limit international oversight at the most critical moments.
On 18 Dey 1404, he was arrested along with his 14-year-old brother Matin in a raid by government agents at their home in Foladshahr, Isfahan. Mohammad Hossein Mohammadi is being held in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan, and his brother is being held in Dolatabad Correctional Center. The charges and the status of the lawyer are unknown.
In January 2026, the European Parliament took a strong position against repression in Iran, signaling that such violations will not go unanswered. At a time when visibility is being deliberately reduced, continued and visible engagement is essential.
I respectfully urge you to consider:
– Publicly sponsoring Mohammad Hossein Mohammadi within a political or detainee advocacy initiative
– Raising this case in plenary, committee discussions, or with the EEAS
– Supporting efforts to maintain visibility, including hearings with human rights defenders or affected families
– Calling for an immediate halt to the execution and for full due process guarantees

When visibility is limited, international attention can be one of the few remaining safeguards against irreversible harm. Timely action in this case could be decisive.
Sincerely,
A concerned citizen
