I am writing with urgent concern regarding Amir Soleimani, who is currently at imminent risk of execution in Iran.
This case comes at a particularly alarming time. In recent months, Iranian authorities have intensified executions in parallel with widespread unrest and ongoing conflict. These actions are increasingly carried out under conditions of severe internet restrictions and communication blackouts, which limit transparency and prevent independent scrutiny.
Amir Soleimani, a social work graduate from Allameh Tabatabaei University and a master's student in rehabilitation counseling at the University of Rehabilitation Sciences and Social Health, was arrested on 17 Dey 1404 in Naziabad, Tehran. He is facing charges of "gathering and colluding against national security" and is being held in Greater Tehran Prison. No news of his release or change in status has been released so far.
Credible reports indicate that detainees are often subjected to unfair trials, restricted legal access, and coerced confessions. When executions take place during periods of reduced visibility, the risk of irreversible injustice is significantly heightened.
In this context, international attention becomes one of the few remaining safeguards.
