BodyDear MEP Łukasz Kohut,
I am writing with urgent concern regarding Shervin Bagherian, who is currently at imminent risk of execution in Iran.
This case comes at a particularly alarming time. In recent months, Iranian authorities have intensified executions in parallel with widespread unrest and ongoing conflict. These actions are increasingly carried out under conditions of severe internet restrictions and communication blackouts, which limit transparency and prevent independent scrutiny.
Shervin Bagherian Jabali, an 18-year-old teenager and student living in Isfahan, was arrested on the night of 18 Dey 1404 (1925) during the Dey protests. He is facing a forced confession on charges of war crimes and participation in the killing of security forces, is at risk of execution, and is being held in Isfahan's Dastgerd Prison. He has not had access to a lawyer.
Credible reports indicate that detainees are often subjected to unfair trials, restricted legal access, and coerced confessions. When executions take place during periods of reduced visibility, the risk of irreversible injustice is significantly heightened.
In this context, international attention becomes one of the few remaining safeguards.
I respectfully urge you to:
* Call for an immediate halt to the execution of Shervin Bagherian
* Raise this case urgently with the European External Action Service and relevant EU institutions
* Advocate for transparency and independent monitoring, particularly during ongoing communication restrictions

Time is critical. When visibility is deliberately reduced, silence can enable irreversible harm.
Thank you for your attention.
Sincerely,
A concerned citizen
